Our journey

Building bridges across generations.

Founded with a vision to unite generations, Gammy’s House emerged as a vital resource for families. By addressing the unique challenges faced by different age groups, we’ve created powerful connections that strengthen the entire community.

Our story is one of hope and empowerment. By promoting collaboration and mutual support, we enable families to grow together — ensuring that children, teens, adults and seniors learn from each other.

That mix is deliberate. A teenager who teaches a senior to video-call her sister is learning patience at the same time, and a grandparent reading to a room of children is passing on more than a story. We measure the results in confidence, attendance and the number of families who come back the following week.

Common questions

How intergenerational connections work here

How do intergenerational connections help families?

Intergenerational connections give children consistent adults beyond their parents, and give seniors purpose and company. Families tell us the house changes how they talk to each other at home, because everyone has someone to learn from.

When did Gammy’s House begin?

Gammy’s House began with a simple observation: the people who needed each other most were living on the same street but rarely meeting. We opened one room, then one house, and the intergenerational connections grew from there.

What values guide the team?

Connection, empowerment and respect. Every programme is designed so that each generation contributes rather than only receives, and we check that promise with families, teens and seniors throughout the year.

Can I visit before joining?

Yes. Come and see a session, meet the team and ask questions. Visiting first is the easiest way to understand how our intergenerational connections work in practice, and there is no obligation to sign up.

Who leads the work?

A small team of educators, mentors and neighbours, supported by volunteers and partners across Dallas. Our founder still hosts the Friday table, which is where most new intergenerational connections begin, and we keep the first table we ever bought in the corner of the kitchen.
